Case Studies
My completed years in a management position showed 85% revenue growth compared to the previous year. This was achieved at departmental level (Andaz Hotel London, Andaz Hotel Amsterdam), hotel level (Hyatt Place Amsterdam) or group level (PIF BV Amsterdam), from which we achieved above average profit realisation with the help of a 35% flow-through median.
Across multiple hotels I have managed to achieve a growing employee satisfaction which had a direct positive impact on employee retention. The main tool to achieve this were the collective action plans that were built on the analysis of the employee satisfaction scores and answers.
Next to this I was leading the Employee Focus Group for the introduction of Hyatt’s new company wide Purpose Activation by assisting the London hotels to adapt practices on a property level that helped incoporating the new purpose into the day to day operation.
Our project focuses on introducing successful and new as well as revamping existing loyalty programs. To these use cases we also involve input from behavioural scientists and their economical understanding as well as our in house software integration and digitalization advisors.
RM is a quintessential part of an economically prospering and succesful business these days. We are working together with an reveue management expert, who’s global experience is overarching decades in leadership and VP roles. Together we analyze the as-is state and help companies to improve their distribution channel management, processes, data analysis and tech stack, supporting revenue manangement.
I had the chance to lead an operational transition for both the processes of creating a new brand and changing a current one. During a brand transition we shaped the profile of a new restaurant (Bluespoon Restaurant, Amsterdam) , with which we managed to start growing guest numbers and average spend again after 2 years of decline, as well as we repositioned the hotel bar (Bluespoon Bar, Amsterdam), which then became an essential go-to place within the bar scene of the city.
When it comes to the creation of a new brand, I lead the initiation of a new restaurant and a 12 room boutique hotel (Calisto Restaurant and Hotel, Amsterdam), from the real-estate negotiations point through the refurbishing and brand creation to kick starting the operation.

During the project, we developed a B2B sales strategy and designed partnerships for an emerging Hungarian specialty coffee brand, which helped to position the brand and increase its market value.

Adam’s hospitality experience includes leading hotels and restaurants in the Netherlands and the UK. He has been involved in opening new hospitality venues, rebranding and managing existing establishments. Processes such as recruiting and training staff, optimizing business processes and ensuring quality control and guest satisfaction were essential to his success in managing operations.

There are also, of course, the eternal rules and personal inspirations that define each one. For me, the most powerful inspiration, apart from my guides and hotel visits, has been Isadore Sharp's book.

Of course, as you see more and more in your career, you get a different impression of a concept, but it's important to note here how the diversity of Hong Kong has been a huge inspiration for me. Related to this, the endless creativity of the Black Sheep restaurant group and the vision of the group's leader were particularly influential.
When I moved to England, I witnessed an incredibly interesting and inexhaustible creative resource when I was introduced to the diversity of London's restaurants, hotels and bars.
